MADRID – Barcelona and Real Madrid will meet in the Copa del Rey quarterfinals after the Catalan club beat Osasuna 2-1 Thursday night for a 6-1 aggregate win in their fifth-round matchup.
Defending champion Madrid hosts the first leg Wednesday, with the return match at Barcelona on Jan. 25. The rivals already have met three times this season, with Barcelona winning the two-leg Spanish Super Cup on 5-4 aggregate in August before a 3-1 Barcelona victory at Madrid in La Liga last month.
On a foggy night, Dejan Lekic put host Osasuna ahead in the 41st minute against a Barcelona lineup that included several B team players.
Alexis Sanchez tied it when he headed from Adriano’s cross in the 47th, and Sergi Roberto scored off a pass from Lionel Messi in the 72nd.
Also, Athletic Bilbao advanced to a quarterfinal against Mallorca by beating third-tier Albacete 4-0 following a 0-0 first leg.
